Joel Daniel Phillips is a painter and co-founder of Lit Escalates. His fine art is included in the permanent collections of museums across the US, including the Smithsonian, Denver Art Museum, and many others. When he's not painting or drawing he can usually be found cooking up creative literary chaos, author events and collectible merch. He has created official art for Pierce Brown, Matt Dinniman, V.E. Alexis Lampley has worked for more than a decade as a hand-letterer and illustrator, focusing on books inside and out. She specializes in adapting her style to each specific title she works on, in order to better express the theme and mood of a particular story. As an author herself, Alexis understands the importance of art as a way to bring the words of a story to life. Alexis’s novel, Pride and Prejudice in Space, features dozens of her illustrations, which showcase her wide range of styles and ability. Along with her own book, she has designed and illustrated dozens of book covers.

Joe Abercrombie was born in Lancaster, England, studied psychology at Manchester University, and worked as an editor of documentaries and live music before his first book, The Blade Itself, was published in 2006. Two further installments of the First Law trilogy, Before They Are Hanged and Last Argument of Kings, followed, along with three standalone books set in the same world: Best Served Cold, The Heroes, and Red Country. He has also written the Shattered Sea trilogy for young adults, the Age of Madness trilogy for old adults, and Sharp Ends, a collection of short stories. He lives in Bath, England, with his wife and three children. The Devils is his thirteenth novel.
