The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Production Report
June 2025: All the artwork is now complete!
When we approached the legendary artist Greg Manchess to work on the art for Fablelistik’s three editions of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, we asked if he’d be willing to create eight original oil paintings (which we knew was a lot). So we were thrilled when Greg accepted the commission!
But along the way, Greg became so invested in the project—and enjoyed the collaborative process of working with the Fablelistik team so much—that instead of delivering eight paintings, he created thirteen original oil paintings, making Fablelistik’s Sleepy Hollow one of the most visually rich editions of this classic tale to ever exist.
Here, for the first time ever, we’re excited to share one of those images with you. Please meet the hero of our story, Mr. Ichabod Crane, as envisioned by Greg Manchess.
With limbs like broomsticks and a nose that points the way, Ichabod marches through the crunching leaves of Sleepy Hollow—half schoolmaster, half weather vane, and wholly unaware he is walking straight into legend. . . .
May 2025: The artist and his process
The Fablelistik team spent time with Greg Manchess in his studio, viewing all the art in its original form and learning about Greg’s process and inspiration for each piece. We can’t wait to share this interview!
April 2025: Interior design layout is complete!
Interior design layout has been approved and confirmed.
March 2025: Stoneleaf laser cutting in progress
Stoneleaf was sent to Sarah Pike, our laser cutter, for testing. The front cover of the Lettered Edition is designed by laser cutting the image of a tree from Washington Irving’s estate onto the stoneleaf—results to come!

It’s official! Gregory Manchess will be submitting thirteen pieces of art for the interior of all three editions of Sleepy Hollow.
